Pretty Young Thing 19mm Curling Wand

Ok, first let me say this wasn't my finest moment of thought when I was tricked into purchasing this for $80 at a mall kiosk. Now let me tell you why I love this thing.

Over the holidays last year I was buying gifts at the mall when I was pulled over to this stand (yes pulled). They were selling PYT brand styling tools. (I did try to return this so I only started using it recently) I was led to the stand in such a way I did not see the "No Returns" sign, though this isn't about that.

The PYT Model PYT-015 is a simple black tourmaline clip free wand. It comes packaged with a heat proof curling glove, the curling wand and a pamphlet on how to use it. I tried the glove, it doesn't work with my hair, it just keeps slipping through my fingers making me run the risk of burning myself every time I use this. Although the more I use it, the more comfortable I get and I'm not burning myself as much. Please note that yes it does get REALLY freaking hot (400 F). It has melted my nail polish from my nails - it gets that hot.

So far, this is the only way I can get curls to last in my stubborn, stick straight hair for more than 1 - 3 hours. The curls I get last all day! I wouldn't recommend this for everyday usage though, as the heat will damage your hair. The cardboard pamphlet says that the time is 5-10 seconds for each 2 inch section of hair, I hold mine for 15 seconds or I don't see the results that I want. Though if I wanted soft waves the 5 - 10 seconds would work perfectly. Now it says it uses "far-infrared heat" that softens the hair and gives silky results. It also claims that "Negative Ions" are infused in the tourmaline ceramic to assist in shiny, healthy, frizz-free hair. Let me tell you, that is a load of marketing BS that I've noticed.

This does heat up really quickly though, making quick styling in the am just that. I've done full looks with this iron 3 times now. It really would have been a great purchase, if I would have spent the $60 that they sell for on Amazon.com. So yes while I was swindled into this purchase, I am happy with it.

So ladies, PYT yes they are expensive, but they give lovely results.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say this...we wanna see ur hair! >:) LOL I kid, I kid...

I didn't even know nail polish could melt! :O Yikes! Sorry to hear the kiosk swindled you - I hate when stuff like that happens, but glad the product works for you! I've know a few ladies with straight hair that won't hold a curl, I'll definitely point them in the direction of this curling iron. smile Thanks for the review!

My fault! See, this move is really getting to me.

Your hair looks great! I can never get mine curly for any length of time, either. This looks promising!

Thanks ladies smile But really my hair is poker straight when I don't use this iron. When I use the traditional metal barrel curling iron my hair is straight again in like 30 mins Or as soon as I take a brush to it
