The time for short shorts, fun summer dresses, sandals and funky tan lines is quickly coming to an end. As sad as I am to give up my beloved sun-kissed look, The Fall 09 line-up is slowly becoming one of my favorite seasons in a long time -- leather jackets, boots, ripped jeans, and even plaids are all must-haves this season!
Ripped Jeans...LOTS of Rips.

Let the punk in you run free and rip all your jeans like it's 1980! Already a hot item for Summer, ripped jeans make their transition into Fall paired with --the obvious choice-- boots. Acid-washes and ripped jean skirts are also part of this look. Get your Nirvana on by pairing these with plaid shirts or Sex Pistol it up with a leather jacket, studded accessories and a t-shirt.
Over-The-Knee Boots.

If you can rock these, you are in luck as over-the-knee boots are all the rage this season. Often paired with leggings, jeans or a short dress, these boots come in various styles such as leather or suede, heel or flat -- options are abound!
Oh, screw it! Laddered tights.

How many times have you ripped your tights as you carefully try to put them on? Well you can forget that, as the ripped/ laddered look makes its way through the runways. Now you can have a ball ripping your tights and feel okay with that -- I know I do! I often pair these laddered tights under my already ripped jeans with boots.
It's "leadah"!

Leather can transform your outfit from run-of-the-mill to mega rockstar at the touch of a jacket. Fall '09 brings us plenty of choices such as biker or bomber leather jackets. Studs, zippers, asymmetrical lines -- you name it, they've got it. If tough-chic is what you want, a leather jacket is what you need to get.
I really did mean, party like it's 1980!

Every era has a beginning, an end, and a revival. Those who loved their closet during the 80's or those of us who wish they were more then a fetus in the 80s -- your time is now. Metallic leather, acid-wash jeans, crystal-studded mini-dresses and shark skin suits have all been revived on the Fall '09 runway. It's time to dig up your old clothes from storage, or dare I say, raid your mother's closet.
Smells like...plaid spirit.

Now, the combo of ripped jeans and over-sized plaid shirts can take you back to a dark place in the 90's around high school lockers, but I promise this is different! Body fitting, long plaid shirts paired with leggings create a modernized look making you say, "what's grunge?" A plaid, button up shirt tucked into a high waisted skirt creates a cute, casual, comfortable look. So, don't be afraid - let the plaid in.

I worked in a popular high street fashion chain in the UK last winter and the 80's shoulders, ripped jeans (which caused me hours of amusement watching people trying to get into them whilst putting their feet through the wrong bits) and plaid shirts were very much all I sold for 2 months.
Glad to know I wont have to alter my wardrobe too much this year....
