So, any of you lovely chix out there into hip hop? I've been listening to hip hop since I was a teenager, and it's pretty much all I listen to now. I love the cultured, raw, poetic rhythm and flow of a good underground album or some old school hip hop. I'm sure real fans of hip hop will be as disappointed with mainstream rap as I am, but I'd love to run into some other ChiX who can recommend some good albums or just shoot the breeze with me about what artists are your favorites.

Well, since I DO live in Newark, it's known to be a ghetto area... Hip hop and rap are pretty much all I've ever heard... LOL! I still love rock too... Just nothing screamo... 'Cause then, it's just noise and not a song to me... I've had the chance to rap alongside a friend of mine (Gloc 9) in the Philippines... I'm soo happy that he's become a well-known artist there... You might wanna check him out, but of course it's in Tagalog... >_<

I love old school hip hop and rap! I graduated high school in 92, so all that stuff around that time and prior - Black Sheep, Ice Cube, En Vogue, LL Cool J (Going Back to Cali is one of the greatest songs ever!), RUN DMC, Del & the Funky Homosapien.....I'm kinda picky about rap and hip hop today though.
I love alllll kinds of music though, I can seriously listen to just about anything and appreciate something about it.....

@ my bullitt-- I graduated in '95... not too far behind u!! I remember all those artists and I'm also verrrry picky about the hip-hop & rap that I listen to today... I'm not sure quite when it happened, but hip-hop & rap took a turn for the worse and a lot of it doesn't have the same meaning as it did for us growing up in comparison to kids 2day...
