Just wanted to share my pain and agony - I am mildly agoraphobic, but I have booked a driving lesson that is in 30mins time.

Its a 90minute assessment lesson, and I can honestly say I am absolutely dreading it. I hate going out, and I hate meeting new people... as well as that, it means leaving my son for 90 mins.

I know how you feel. When I first started Drivers Ed, I was scared to death of my instructor and driving since I had little practice. It ended up taking me 6 drives to get my license (Normal was 4). Now, I'm pretty confident on the road. Just relax, you'll be fine. smile

My first driving lesson was scarry. A few minutes after picking me up, they had me enter one of San Jose's busiest freeways during traffic. I think that I was borderline panicked.

I had to drive the previous driving student home, and I think that he was about as scarred as I was to know that his fate was resting in the hands of a very nervous teenaged girl.

Years and years later, I'm the speed demon that I was a afraid to merge next too.

Just found out, that my driver is quitting as his wife is pregnant with twins... while that is all "awww bless"... it means I now have ot switch instructors.

Because of my medical problems, it took me two months to get the courage to get into the car with my current instructor. My test is already booked... bugger.

I'm sure you'll do just fine smile

I'll reserve my driving test story until after you take yours haha - I did pass, though. And I drove in Montana in the middle of winter 2 years ago on the way from NJ to WA. Not that I EVER want to do it again but I feel more confident on the roads now. I've lived my life in big cities (NYC, London) so I never bothered getting a license 'til I moved to NJ when I was 27. It is much tougher when you're older, I think. Since you become aware that you're not actually immortal.
