It wasn't as exciting as last years, but did they ever show off some cool stuff. I'm a little miffed that they took a game that was supposed to be free for XBLA (Joyride annouced last year @E3) and turned it into a Kinetic game. I get tehy love generating revenue, but jeepeers it would have been a nice little bonus.

MS transforming Joyride from a free game to a pay-for Kinetic game doesn't surprise me one bit. That just business as usual for them. Look at how many people they've conditioned into thinking they need to pay for online multiplayer gameplay?
Honestly, I can say that I'm kinda meh this year about any announcement that's coming our way from the big 3 (MS/Sony/Nintendo). So far...
1) Microsoft is just pawning off copied ideas (a slim console, Kinetic Sports...yeah, they thought all of those on their own, right?). Now if I can get everyone to buy a new xbox slim so I can get a wireless adapter for dirt cheap...
2) Sony - who will probably offer the most value added pay-for subscription service out there (exclusive demos and DLC, versus charging for online multiplayer game play), is going to try and SHOVE 3D gaming down our throats this year (yeah, I'm not interested in buying a $2,000+ Sony HD Bravia 3D tv where I have to fork over an extra $150 per pair of Shutter glasses to accommodate my 5 person family).
3) Nintendo - does this company even have a pulse anymore within the gamer community? Last year they offered up a heart rate monitor add on (a classic "OMG WTF are they thinking" E3 moment), this year it's a dumbed down Legend of Zelda.
I'm more interested in what new games are coming down the line. Hopefully, some fresh ideas. Definitely not opposed to some sequels, as long as they don't pull a Bioshock 2....
I won't be attending either the Sony or the Nintendo briefing, but like fullofgrace did today, it's my plan to twitter as I watch, before hitting the show floor.
I'm going to work on getting hands on time with the games ya'll asked about here. If you want info on another game, tweet at me and let me know!!

Thanks for doing all this, Kitty!!!! We really appreciate it!!! :D (all us stuck-at-workers are living vicariously through you LOLOL)
Ditto on that... Thanks, Kitty! I've also been trying to catch up with what's what on the E3 coverage on GTTV through Spike TV... Have it on the DVR to watch at my own time... Too busy at work (and gaming)... I must say, I'm pretty jealous of the people who were able to go and get the new 360 for free... >_<
I am totally retracting what I said about Nintendo. Much better showing this year than last. Zelda was confirmed and is kinda meh (looks like recycled Link), BUT those guys are going to sell an @$$ ton of Nintendo 3DS handhelds. Can't believe the thing takes pictures and videos in 3D...
You still made me crack up, I have been wondering what Nintendo was thinking for a while. Like the pedometer, I remember them advertising you could stick in on you dog and see how far he's traveled for "FUN". Seriously this is a game??
Anybody checking Kitty's twitter - I asked her to check out the 3DS. She said the lines were crazy long, but she's supposed to check it out today. She's also checking out Fable 3 as well today (I think).

A dog pedometer? For real? That's almost as bad as Sony's lazertag "videogame". Seriously, is someone smoking something over there? It's just lazertag. :/
Did anyone else watch Nintendo and Sony's presentations yesterday? I saw the Twitter buzz about Sony and Kevin Butler's repeated digs at Kinect and the Kinect demo, but I hadn't realized how cringe-worthy it was until I saw it myself. I've always found negative campaigning for either a person or a product to be a kiss of death. "I can't say a whole lot nice about myself, so I'll say something bad about someone/something else!" That and Kevin Butler's 'comedy routine' was so slanted toward men. He talked about 'hardcore gamers' and then spun his jokes for men. Blech.
The Move just seems like a Supersized, Flashier Wii (for real! it's got a glowing lightbulb at the end of the wand). We won't be buying it. It's just not going to do anything to revolutionize gaming in our house like the Kinect will for my kids (my one with motor control issues in particular).
I should say that I've found the Kevin Butler stuff very, very funny before. I'm not stuffy. LOL! It just seemed really out of place at a biz expo/event that's supposed to be selling me on a company's gaming innovations, etc.
We let the kids watch a little bit, and they got really, really silly and came up with things they think the Playstation Move Controller looks like:
a) A Magic Wand "It's sparkly-glowy at the end Mommy!" A lot of this probably came from seeing the guy use it in that Sorcery game. Glowy-tipped wand in game. Glowy-tipped wand in your hand. But now my daughter wants JUST the 'wand'.
b) A Microphone "It glows like the one we sing with only on top instead of the bottom"
c) A Glowstick (The kind you break and it lights up)
d) A Sparkler (the 'fireworks' kind)
e) A Lollipop "The bubble gum center kind!" (My seven-year-old thought calling it a lollipop was the funniest thing ever. But all I could picture was "how many licks does it take to get to the center of...")
I dunno...I thought Kevin Butler was pretty hilarious yesterday. Especially the part where he mentioned all the people pretending to work while watching the Sony Conference LOLOL - I know he's just an actor, but I wish some of the CEOs brought it to E3 like he did. I'm not surprised he threw some mud at Kinect - it wouldn't be the first time: http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/28444
I have 3 so I know all about how silly kids can get. Wand, microphone, and glowstick - I'm pretty sure Sony was going for that. That glowing orb on top looks interesting but helps with the accuracy of the controller. To me - it looks like one of those balls they use for motion capture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MotionCapture.jpg BTW, what your kids came up with are WAY nicer than what most people online are calling the new sony motion controller LOL (it's pretty NSFW so I can't post - but here's the hint: starts with 'd' and almost sounds *like* Waldo). Bad, bad of me...
In all honestly, I'm not really digging Sony or Microsoft jumping on the motion control bandwagon. I keep thinking Kinect is going to have problems. Sony Move I think may have potential to be crazy accurate - even more so than the Wii. I think Sony might do ok because they're more like a wii in terms of controllers plus they have great graphics (I hate wii graphics for games like The Conduit and Dead Space Extraction) - but the price is still too high. Maybe if they had a Sony motion package + ps3 for $299 I could see. I noticed Microsoft hasn't release a price for Kinect yet - I bet they price match the $99 that Sony is offering for their Move hardware.

I saw that one, too. You're right - there were definitely funny parts that I LOL'd at. Overall it just didn't compell me to shell out cash.
I know my view is very skewed, though. I think I'm MEH about the Move because it just isn't something I need to improve our family game time. In our case, the Move is just offering up more controllers and buttons as their motion-style gaming, when we need hands-free, button-less controls.

I am at home and the children are at school, so I can go look that up right now.... Heh! And I hadn't thought of the controller being that way on purpose. It makes sense that if the Move is geared toward kids that it would be 'cute' in style.

I'm thinking that, too. I wonder though if theirs might be priced a bit higher due to the technology being so different.
