The new Nintendo 3DS - let us know what you think! See the poll, place your vote, and/or add an opinion.
My opinion: I don't own a DS at all. I'm not really convinced that handheld gaming is right for me, *but* the 3DS does sound awesome. Leaning heavy on the maybe vote right now.
I haven't really heard too much about it, soooo.... But I guess I shouldn't get another handheld looking at this PSP that's only good for collecting dust.. Unless someone wants to buy it for me. I never turn down free electronics!
I really think the dsi and the ds3 should have been 1 combined system instead of separate releases. If you think about it the ds3 is really more like the ds5? there's the ds, ds lite, dsi dsiXL?? and now this

They are all not the same exact hardware. The different iterations of the DS are based upon customer feedback and everyone's different needs. The original DS is bulky, uncomfortable, and has a small stylus but its backwards compatible with gameboy (advance) games. The DS lite is smaller, rounder, and has a bigger stylus.* The DSi has two touch screens that are slightly bigger than the previous two, downloadable games and two cameras, but it's not backwards compatible. The DSiXL is the same a the DSi but it's much bigger.
The 3DS is more powerful than the previous handhelds with motion sensing, analog control, and 3D that can be turned on and off, but it has one touchscreen like the original since the top screen is used for 3D. The lineup also features ports of Star Fox, Dead or Alive, and Blood Rayne as well as new Kid Icarus, Resident Evil and Dragon Quest games. I wouldn't think of the 3DS as "just another DS" with all of those significant upgrades attached to it.

I have a DS lite and it does play GBA games, it has a port at the front. I hadn't even heard of this new one I think I'll stick to the trusty DS Lite, we don't play it often anyway, maybe a game against each other before bed or when travelling.
I'm defently getting one!! I had a DS when it first came out but i sold it due to I got into the xbox so i never played it but now i wish i hadn't sold it as with all these cool games like Prof. Laten and the other cooking mama games. So i'm hoping that some of the rumours that have been going around about it's release date are true so i can have one soon.
I want it but i haven't fully made my mind up if i'm going to buy it or not. One of my friends is getting it on day of release so i'm going to have a little go on his to see it i like it or not.
I bought the DSiXL the day of release and have used it about 5 times. So I wont be getting it but it does sound nice. I would rather save my money and get the xbox slim.
I'm on the fence because while Kid Icarus and Resident Evil are appealing to me, the launch lineup as a whole doesn't interest me. And it seems like Nintendo's being a little cagey about just what's going to be released.
Of course, I'm also the person who didn't buy a 360 until 2009 because I was waiting for there to be "enough games". And there sure are now!
I'm going to hold out until 6 months after launch, then make my decision. If Nintendo (like Apple) didn't keep making the next version cooler than the one before and releasing them almost on top of each other, I'd probably be more willing to splurge on this. Just my two cp.
I can't really make up my mind either. I love gadgets and I know I do want one, but it seems a bit expensive as of now. Then again, Nintendo things don't really get MUCH MUCH cheaper as time goes by as it is with, let's say, Xbox games where you have a sharp price drop within the first few months after launch. I've ordered and canceled the order like 3 times already, lol. We'll see >.<
I was not getting one until I went to the Nintendo site and saw all the specs. I will be taking my XL to Gamestop for the $100 credit they offer towards the 3DS. Looking forward to the new Zelda game too.
You're right Eith. I have a DS Lite also (pink- yay!) and I'm very happy with it. The 3DS just sounds intriguing but I'll wait till I can see more of it.
