I'm looking to expand our tabletop games collection. We have a lot of the classics and even more kids games: Farkle, Uno, Yahtzee, Scrabble, Life, Sorry, Apples to Apples, Pictureka, almost everything by Cranium, Triominos, I Spy, Hi Ho Cherry O, Twister.... As you can see, I am up to my ears in child/family games. LOL

Our newest additions have been Fluxx (we have the Family & Monty Python versions) and Chrononauts, which have been really great, but I want something more involved. I have always wanted to try D&D or Munchkin that spoofs it or Magic the Gathering or Axis & Allies (well that'd be more for Hubs - he's the history geek). My problem is that in the offline world, I only have Hubs to play with. I'm not sure those are do-able or even as much fun with just two players. (I played D&D a bit a loooong time ago. So long that I forget how. sick)

So, can you tell me: 1. If I can play any of those with two players. 2. Your suggestion of one to try first since we are only two. 3. Any other games to try instead. Pretty please? {mwah}

Carcassonne !!! Get it, get it now!!! It's a fantastic game for two or more and it's easy enough for kids to get a handle on it (my 6 year old was playing the XBLA version with us since he was 3 1/2 4 -ish and now plays with us tabletop version)

Also a tough one to find but so worth it is Talisman. It's a little slow with two players but still fun. It's like D&D without the pencil and paper... and without the RP'ing. Come to think of it, it's not really like D&D at all LOL wink (I kid, lol it's close to it... you have premade characters to pick from, typical D&D alignments, basic stats, etc.)

If i think of others I'll post smile

I am a big fan of a game called "Lost Cities" it is a game that is designed for two players, it is very straight forward but there is a ton of strategy. It is a card based game but there is a board game modification for 2-4 players.

My boyfriend and I play board games pretty much every Saturday night, so lots of 2 player only games.

Carcassonne so fun, for sure pick that one up. We also love Dominion, can be played with up to 4 players, and it's easy enough for my 10 year old to play http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36218/dominion

A few of the others we play that we really enjoy:
Small World: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/40692/small-world (Ages 8+)
Warhammer:Invasion: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=85&esem=1 (Age 13+) - Love this game!!
BattleLore: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/25417/battlelore
Thunderstone: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/53953/thunderstone
Tomb: http://www.tombthegame.com/tomb/

All of the above games last 45 minute - 2 hours.

If I think of others, I'll let you know smile.
