So since Cata will be coming out, especially with the new races... I KNOW I'm gonna be making a new toon/s... I suggest we pick a realm/server to call our "home"... Cata ChiX? >_< Yes, no, maybe? I'm just tired of raiding with randoms and have no one communicating with one another... It gets boring...
Love this idea, but there is one prob. We're probably all in WoW for different things. Jen and I are role-players, so you'll never find us on normal or PVP realms. Rarely even on RP-PVP. Second is knowing if the realm is "good."
Tonight I'm trying out various ones. I'm really sick of people dissing me because I freakin' love Belves. I'm not a lolgirl in anyway, but I like my elfsies. They're hott, really have good LORE (actual lore, character lore can get... lol lored easily.) That and people who don't like the way I talk. I just tried a realm and was flamed for how I spell certain words... Bleh.
Right now I'm in queue for Moon Guard. Heard it's a high RP realm. Fingers crossed!

I'd be interested in throwing a toon into the mix.
Also to those who don't have WoW but have eyeballed it....You can get the core game and first two expansions for a grand total of 20 USD. Core and Burning Crusade are $5 each and Lich King is $10.
I've been in Ghostlands and haven't had any problems... Then again, I keep to myself... More on the RP side too... Ive tried Blade's Edge which is where some of my friends stay... It's a pretty good server... Also, I'm more into the Horde side, but I DO have Alliance toons too on other servers... Let's get some more suggestions then vote on which one to settle down on later on... Also, if any of you have Xfire, add me: cybergus15, since it has chat (text and voice) and logs in your gametime too...
I've only really been on Korgath, Ysera, and Proudmoore. The last two are PvE and Korgath is PvP (not to be confused with Kargath [PvE]). Ysera was a few years back so I can't attest to how it is now. Proudmoore is OK, but I'm afraid that it's queue time will be terrible at Cata's release. I remember being in queue for an hour when WotLK came out. I have two level 80s there though. Korgath is pretty nice economy-wise. I mean some items are pretty overpriced but I've noticed the same items are overpriced on other realms. Despite it being PvP, it's a pretty good server. I made a hunter the other day and I've died twice to lvl 80s, but they didn't camp my body so I'm okay with that.
I tend to prefer horde over alliance but if alliance wins the vote, I'm okay with that as well. It'll just take me time to get used to it.
Triple post! But on a diff day here. I had the chance to play the Undead starting area, and all I have to say is that it is AWESOME. The quests were pretty fun and there's a great storyline and somewhat instanced areas. Sylvanas kind of follows you around a little. Gotta take care of those pesky humans and worgens.
Since I'm not sure of this, are there servers that have PVP and RP? I've never done an RP server, and I'm just thinking of trying to find a balance for everyone. It's entirely possible we can't and we'll just have to pick based on majority rules.
The other thing, because I've also got no experience iwth this - how bad is the lag for an EU player on a NA server (and vice versa)? I would suspect for raiding that would make a HUGE difference...
I can draw up some polls (Allie vs Horde), (PvP vs PvE vs RP) if we want to see the numbers of interested people, so we can start narrowing down servers...?
I had someone in Europe playing with me for a while and they did not lag. However, in order for European players to play on the US servers, they have to pull some strings to get a US copy of the game plus be able to pay in USD (I think.). The only options when I log on my game are North America, Oceanic and Latin America or something like that. And your PVP and RP question: There are RPVP servers ^^. I don't know how good they are though as I've never been on one and if they actually have any RP on them or not. Also I sometimes lag on servers, but I think that's more of a personal problem with my ISP, and I just deal with it cuz I'm used to it on all games hehe. I've never done a raid though so I don't know how that goes. Five man dungeons are all I've ever done and not even all of them but I haven't lagged so far but if my connection gets persnickety it's possible to happen. D:
I think any EU gals could join Knikitta on her server though, so they don't have to try to find a US version of the game and whatnot.
And I'm up for some polls.
I've added so much to my post that some of what I have said is out of order.
I've only ever been on Normal servers... So I'm not sure... But I asked a friend and he said that RP-PvP servers are named after evil organizations/cults... I still didn't quite get it though... I'm such a noob now... >_<

My friend googled the old naming theme:
• Normal realms are named after heroes, neutral characters or known places.
• Player vs. Player (PvP) realms are named after demons and warmongers.
• Normal Roleplaying (RP) realms are named after beneficial organizations.
• Player vs. Player Roleplaying (RP-PvP) realms are named after evil organizations or cults.
Though now that I think about it, I don't know if there's a big enough starting group to make the polls that effective aside from Horde vs Alliance. I've just recently within the last two months sunk money into moving to Korgath and getting my cousin moved over there too. So I probably wouldn't move my priest to another realm. Though I have a lvl 80 mage and a lvl 80 paladin that I would be willing to move away from Proudmoore. All horde. I do however, have a lvl 70 human mage I haven't touched in forever. We're talking before WotLK came out. So if we did have alliance, I could move her away from Ysera. I could help sink some gold and maybe use my trade skills to get the guild started. And run people through dungeons if they don't want to do randoms.
Lag as far as what country you're from is decent. When Jen and I played on the EU servers, we experienced heavy lag in popular areas like Dalaran, Stormwind/Orgrimmar and Goldshire. Raiding and PvP would lag while entering and than normally, everything was fine. However, like others have said, if you're in the EU you need an American version of the game and you need to pay the monthly fee and vice versa.
The American RP realms are (*'s by the ones I recommend):
The Scryers
Farstriders
Wyrmrest Accord*
Moon Guard
Sisters of Elune
Blackwater Raiders
Cenarion Circle
Sentinels
Steamwheedle Cartel
Kirin Tor
Thorium Brotherhood
Silver Hand
Earthen Ring* (my current realm home)
Argent Dawn*
Feathermoon
Scarlet Crusade
Shadow Council
And American RP PvP realms:
Ravenholdt
The Venture Co
Lightninghoof
Twisting Nether
Maelstrom
Emerald Dream
Now, I can definitely say if you're on an RP realm you still can definitely do raiding and PvP. I got my Tier 9 Paladin armor so quickly on the EU servers and I kicked lots of booty PvP wise. It really depends on what you, as a player, enjoy. I like RP realms, because there is plenty of everything and after you finish end game content, there is still RP. It never gets old, there is always something to do and frankly I can't play a character without giving her a name, back story, etc.
I'll try to answer any other questions, but hopefully that helped!
