I bought my first wireless headset and have been kicking around the idea of returning it. My friend thinks it may be a lemon so I'm hoping someone else here has it and can confirm.

1. Popping randomly. Not all the time, but annoying. <--- biggest complaint for me.

2. Hissing when I talk at times. Friend states they hear a light sound when I talk, similar to hissing. When they talk (same headset) it's crystal clear.

3. Maybe the connection to wireless isn't as snug as it should be. New controller and its as if the sound goes in and out every once in a while. I just can't confirm if it's my end or theirs.

I love the wireless option and this is the type of headset I was looking for. The x41 got worse reviews so I'm not sure if this is just the specific headset or something normal for this type of headset.

I would say you need to return those headphones...sounds like you got a bad pair...I have the x4's more than a year ago, which are very similar and have not experienced any of those issues. you should never hear popping with your headphones. The only thing you probably should hear is a slight static (white noise) when there is no sound present. That is more a issue with the wireless nature of the headphones....the price you pay for wireless.
The hissing when you talk is also not right...should be clear audio...
Sorry to tell you that you need to return... I hate having to return stuff.
I read in another forum some people were hearing popping due to not having the controller cable plugged in all the way...I read that here
http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=637504&page=3

Question: do you have a lot of other wireless devices in the room that you use your headphones in, e.g., cordless phone, wireless hdtv, wireless printer, etc.?

Hope that helps

I'm so glad you answered! I guess I'll it tomorrow. It's a pain because I bought them from Amazon. :/ I have a Wireless modem (XBox is hardwired though), a wireless laptop and cordless phone (I hardly ever use). The laptop is next to me and the modem/phone is about five feet. I made sure the headset was completely plugged in. It's a new controller so I can't imagine it being loose.

Fake Edit: I read in that thread that the chat cable is faulty and TB sends one out for free. I'm going to try and call them to see if they can do the same for me. Hopefully it will get here in time so I can make sure that's the issue. Thank you so much for providing that link!

Same here I have the exact pair and they work great for me. Any time they start to act weird, I swap out batteries and it's all fixed. So I'm not sure what's wrong with yours. Might have a defective pair.

The support switched me to returns and I haven't heard back yet. I'm thinking of giving them a call just to see what's happening. I love the headset and really don't want to give it up if I don't have to.

I hope you get it all worked out. I order things from Amazon all the time and they're usually always very helpful with any returns or problems I have.

They said a new cable is on the way (yay!). I'm still using it as much as I can and even have my wired one taped up all ghetto-style as a backup. No way would I be able to deal with not chatting. Right now my friends are my mental savior.

My Turtle Beaches did that too and I gave up and just tossed them. As for the noise when you talk, is your controller wireless? I know mine made noise when I was charging my controller and playing.

I personally will NEVER buy another Turtle Beach headset. I bought mine for $250 only for them to die after a month. I then bought a set called Steel Series and they were 395925x clearer than my TBs and cost $80

It ended up being the cable, BUUUUUUUT.... they aren't the same as the wired, that's for sure. They tend to crackle here and there when the battery is low, which isn't too bad. I've had to turn off the XBox and turn it back on for some funky noise garbling issue lately. Only twice, so I'm holding my breath that it's not going to be something more frequent. I am hooked on the wireless option and use them daily just so I don't bother my neighbors late at night/early in the morning. I'm always interested in finding something better tho'. :D

I love wireless too but wired ones seem to have less issues. Everyone rants and raves about Turtle Beaches and I personally (now) think they are a waste of money

I agree about the less issues part. I actually found the culprit for the crackling this time. It ended up being related to my wireless modem.

I have the X41's & had the same problem for a while with the popping. I moved the headset base to an open area so that the signal didn't get interrupted.
