Everyone who enjoys going after achievements has them. It's the type of achievement that makes you groan when you see it. It's the achievement that changes the game for you.

1. What achievements do you loathe (and why?)

2. Which achievement that you've gone after did you hate the most? Did you get it?

If you are the type who doesn't go after achievements

1. Can you name one that you did go after and annoyed you to no end? Did you get it?

1. I am sure other games have similar achievments, but the specific ones I hate are on Halo, when you have to do them in ranked free for all. I don't usually play those types of games because I like playing with friends. That pretty much garantees that I will not be getting them.

2. I don't specifically go after them most of the time, but recently it has been the ODST vidmaster on the highway. It is only bad because you need 4 players and it is VERY hard to find good people to play with.

I can tell you that I hate one of the achievements in Limbo -- the one where you have to play the entire game in one sitting with 5 or fewer deaths. Yeah....that's going to take FOREVER. Lots and lots of repeated tries. Ugh. So not going to happen...

Achievements that force you to grind and take forever to do.

For example:

Collecting flags in Assassins Creed
Missions in FF13
Saints row activities

Achievements that I can't get and it's outside of my power to get for some silly reason.

Saints Row multiplayer achievements ==> No one plays it anymore.

I can't complain about not getting achievements that are within my power to get, I have actually accomplished all that I set out to get.
Occasionally I need another playthrough as I've missed something (like in Assassins Creed I missed conversationalist which is just getting all dialogue with the woman, I really can't be bothered going through another 10-15 hour grind just to get that achievement), and if I don't already have it then I'm just too lazy or can't be bothered to.

I would have to say the dead rising achievement to save all the survivors...I played that game 7 times through and always fell 1 or 2 short....I must have put 40 hours into that game only to get glitches that eliminated my chances of getting the achievement...After that game I stopped caring.

It was fun getting the eggs in Limbo though. I did that strictly for achievements and to play the game a little longer.

I can honestly say that the current achievement I am working on getting is a total pain. I have been playing The Orange Box again trying to get achievements I missed on the first play through and I am trying to get the Neighborhood watch one, you have to keep all the buildings in one piece while running around killing Striders (huge tall bug like creatures with guns) from blowing up the buildings and getting to a missile silo. It is a combination of using a gravity gun to get the bomb on the strider, shooting the bomb while it is on the strider, while dodging hunters that are shooting things to blow up the bomb, and racing around in a car to get to the next strider before it blows up a different building. I will eventually get it, I know that I will because I am not quite as enraged at that part of the game as I was when I did a first play through last winter. I was ready to throw the controller through the TV then and I wasn't even trying for the achievement. I just wanted finish the blasted game. It is one of the most frustrating, hair pulling, swear word inducing challenges I have ever done.

It ranks right up there with the one I finished before it called Little Rocket Man. Where I had to take Chompski the Gnome (some of you will know him from L4D2) from the beginning of Half-Life 2 episode 2 all the way to the missile and put him in it.

I don't really go after achievements. If I unlock them as I play, that's fine. Other than that, I just don't bother. [shrugs] However, if I had to choose a type of achievement...usually it's time trial, or online achievements that I have trouble with...like, I kick ass on the campaign in Halo, but playing online, it's like, someone has replaced my brain with mush. :/ Maybe, it's nerves. I don't know...I'm so weird.

The ones I loathe are:
1. Ranked multiplayer ones: I prefer to play story lines and not have to jump into games where people are almost always 10 times better than me. It's an automatic no go.
2. Timed Trials: Ugh. I'm still trying to get comfortable with the controller so timed trials are a nightmare for me.

2. Which achievement that you've gone after did you hate the most? Did you get it: I've had a few timed trial games that drove me insane. Ice Age 3 and Looney Tunes both had ones that involved using the left stick to steer with no room for error. Yeppers... it's kiddie games that did me in. Both times I gave up.

i have to agree with Odessa, ranked online achievments are not fun. in fact, the only achievements i have left on a couple games are because of ranked online stuff. its insane! they are so frustrating. one that drives me bonkers is on Halo Wars... I can absolutely dominate a match, on legendary, against the computer, but when i play online, i get defeated almost instantaneously.. grrr!!

I also don't like the ranked multiplayer ones. I play it to get them but a lot of times I get to teh point where I'm not having fun because I am getting my butt kicked. I'm also not big on grinding achv's (collect 7500 items, etc) that take no skill just time and luck. I like the collection ones for the most part though because I can set goals and achieve them.

2. Which achievement that you've gone after did you hate the most? Did you get it?
Collect 7500 item drops in Too Human. Yes I got it but I played that game to the point I HATED it (and still do) just to get that stupid stinkin achievement. I really liked the game the first 50 or so hours I played it but playing the same 3 levels over and over to collect things got really annoying. It was almost like a job trying to get that achievement. I probably would have gotten it faster if I wouldn't have played it the first few times on co-op but still 7500? Really?

I don't play being overly concerned with achievements, tend to grab a few from just playing through the storyline, but I hate when a large proportion of achievements for some games are based upon online/multiplayer gaming (i.e left 4 dead 2). I enjoy being self reliant (; I still try go for them but I am largely unsuccessful and frustration seeps in.

Type of achievement I hate is actually on a game to game basis. Collection achievements.... Sometimes they are super fun but other times they are way annoying (ie Assassins Creed and Fallout 3 steel things).
I also tend to not like weapon based achievements... Again New Vegas do x amount of damage with unarmed, melee, etc etc. While I get they are trying to give me a new way to play the game I don't like basically being "forced" to play the game in a way I wouldn't. I HATE unarmed in Fallout I've tried it don't like it... So either I will never 100% the game or end up loathing at least part of one play through.
Multiplayer achievements are hit and miss with me. I didn't care for them in Halo 3 because I really don't like the online for halo. I like the online for left 4 dead one and two but rarely get a chance to play so.... Plus I am not good online so I usually fail out automatically on getting those achievements

Specific achievements I didn't like

-Mill Worker: Find all 100 steel ingots.... this was the last one I needed for 3 and I spent a long time just running around that stupid area going over the same spots over and over

-And the Winner is: Successfully answer 60 Pop Quiz questions about Oscar Best Picture winning movies.... This one wasn't hard it was just rare. The rarest game type with the rarest question type. To give an idea how long it took me to get this it was the last one I needed on this game and I got it 10/7/2010.... The nearest one in date to that was 7/23/2009.... Over a year
