Anybody here watch Anime?

I'm currently watching K-ON! and Welcome to the NHK.
Really liking them both at the moment but they arn't the best ones out there. Did take me a bunch of episodes to get into them lol

So what Anime do you watch?
Also do you like to buy the DVDs or do you prefer Fansubs?

OMG OMG OMG - It's awesome with a side order of fries, that's what it is! Samurai Champloo is set in Edo period (with hip hop influence) and focuses on 3 characters - Fuu, Mugen, and Jin. Mugen is a vagabond, Jin is ronin -- both are excellent swordsmen. Fuu - 15 yr old girl - recruits them to help her find a samurai who smells like sunflowers - the entire series is based on this journey. Mugen and Jin are like yin and yang - Jin is mild mannered and fights traditional kenjutsu, Mugen has non-traditional fighting style (incorporates breakdancing like moves when he fights). I don't want to give away too much, but it is an excellent series. It's what got me into anime. Two thumbs up.

I have a site that I go to for my anime fix that also has asian movies... Streaming, but VERY good quality... It's a free site, unless you wanna donate... Check it out: Crunchyroll If you already have an account on there, search for me... It's the same as my gtag...

I used to watch Asian movies on there because i found it hard to find them anywhere else.
Never use it much for Anime nowdays, even though you can find alsorts of good stuff on there.
From what i've read it also has legal streaming now which is great.

Yes it does... That's why I keep recommending it to people... Since they go through all the trouble of asking permission and all...

I highly recommend Ouran High School Host club if you haven't seen it. It's great if you like weird comedy.

I like Wolfs Rain, used to love it when i was a child. Haven't seen it in a long time though :-(

Man that list can go on and on and on, lol. I even read Manga as well! The last completed show I watched was "Lovely Complex." That show is just too funny to me! I'm also watching Naruto and Bleach and still checking out others. I recommend highly watching "My Hime" and "Air Gear." Well, "Air Gear" only if you like stupid funny mess, lol. I couldn't even say all the anime I've watched over the years. Sometimes I'll watch them in English but most of them sound a little better subbed, lol.

I like the overly girly stuff. My all time favorite has to be "Fruits Basket" (the anime is good but the manga is just so much better). I also like the later seasons of Sailor Moon (the anime, not the butchered crap they showed on TV in the late 90s). Ouran High School Host club is a good one as well. I am an odd breed when it comes to fansub vs DVD, because often when I start watching a series it is long before it is properly released here in North America. If it is properly released (or a series I really enjoyed) I will buy the DVD but usually it's fansubs that I originally watch.

I've been watching Devil May Cry because it's available On Demand right now through cable. I also just received Darker than Black from Netflix but I haven't watched it yet. That series was highly recommended by my son and his friend so I figured I'd check it out.

Just discovered my love of Anime and Manga! Fiance's been on me for 3 years now to give it a chance. I watched a bit of Chobits last year and loved it, but then fiance had lost his discs of it!!

Right now I'm on Rosario + Vampire and I have just fallen head over heels for it!!

Soon as I finish both seasons of that I'm moving on to Witchblade then Chibi Vampire (aka Karin).

Oh and a friend is watching "Monster" with me via online when we're both on.

I'm open to suggestions. smile

P.S. Sorry for my long absence...life is hectic when both Phoenix (my son) and Shane (fiance) are both home for winter break!! Will be glad when school and work start back up!!!

I used to be really really into anime it was pretty much the only "tv" I watched. Then I kind of faded out of it. Recently though the habit of watching it is picking back up again. Honestly I forgot how much it fueled my creativity. Some of my faves are

Karin
Azumanga Diaoh
Loki (my fiance got it for me for x-mas actually ^_^)
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Mai Hime
Fruits Basket
Angelic Layer
Magical Shopping Arcade
Dai Guard
Haibane Remna (sp)
Pocor Rosso

many many others.... When I am done re-watching Loki I have many more I need to see

Also I like to buy DVDs one I want to support anime and two it's more convenient to watch. However I am very very poor so I don't own much. I do try to buy it when I can though
