I find that in games such as Sims3 I make my character have the same type of hair as me and same personality etc, however, in games like smackdown vs raw I make my character completely crazy normally electric blue hair, white eyes and generally pretty unique! With a completely random dress style!
I tend to make my chars have red hair because I have red hair. That's pretty much as far as I go with it though. On the sims 3, I sometimes do red hair but sometimes I do black with bright pink highlights!
I know what you mean. In the Fallout games I like to make my characters look as much as a debutante as possible. So they have the somewhat debutante hair but then are running around in tribal gear and a machete.
I like to give myself green hair since that's my favorite color. I like my chars to look somewhat like me in features but clothes and accessories are usually way off.
It depends on the game. In The Sims, I usually make my sims after me, haha.

I do the same thing. I have red hair so I will almost always give my character red hair. Especially in any kind of RPG my initial character will have red hair. In Fallout 3 because I was playing it so much that after 3 playthroughs with white characters with red hair I switched it up and played a blond Asian on my 4th playthrough.
On the Sims though I make and play so many characters I like to make them all different.
I kinda end up making most of my main characters look like me in the face and my female assets if given the option lol. But my hair usually ends up being purple, red, white, or an aqua color (in that order of preference) depending on what game, race, type of character, etc.
Sometimes without trying i make the character resemble me but usually i give my characters red hair and green eyes or pink hair and grey eyes i dont know why. Oh and i always make there skin really white!
I usually give my characters red hair since my hair is mostly red. Although in Saints Row my character has pink hair because that's my favorite color. Itry to make my characters look like me but it usually doesn't end up that way.
