I'm currently thinking about reactivating my account and starting a new character. Well, maybe not right before DA2 comes out.. but I'm kind of in the mood to spend some time in that world again. Any of you ever played it or is still playing it or is considering.. etc?

Ah heck.. I guess all of the "your level 33 bear shaman is waiting for you! ;_;" re-invitation mails eventually hit a soft spot.. wink

lol I was considering getting it back when it was first going to come out but I didn't hear too many good things so I eventually decided not to. How was it Lucienna?

And yes, those emails do hit a soft spot. I'm considering going back to FFXI smile

I actually really liked Age of Conan, especially the battle system. You trigger combo chains by pressing the cursor keys in a certain order (and if this sounds complicated - it's not!), which felt really fresh and different from "hold the left mousebutton until it dies".

The problem with this game for me was that up to level 20 the content was really polished and fun, then after that suddenly there was no voice acting anymore, no cut scenes etc, and you were stuck with ever the same fetch me/kill it quests or had to grind your levels. Basically all of my friends stopped playing around that point, including me - monthly subscription was expensive as well and I didn't feel like paying.

In reaction to the complaints and many players leaving, the developers must have drastically improved the game experience during the last 2 years (or so I've heard) and fixed a lot of the issues, so I must admit I'm curious how the game feels like now. Also, you can play for free until level 20. The basic game is really cheap - around 5 bucks including one month of playtime. So to anyone considering to try it out.. have a go at it smile

How was FFXI? I'm actually a big FF fan, but also haven't heard too many good things about the game (and the subscription fee put me off). LOL And how about FFIV?

I really liked FFXI, and my DH and I played for a while. I found there was a bit of a learning curve getting used to the interface, but once you figured it out, the game was fun. It was incredibly detailed and there was a ton of stuff to do, between questing, leveling, and crafting/trades. FFXI still has the best "Auction House" system that I've seen yet in a game (IMHO). We found it got tough at a certain level though and it was hard to find groups. My DH and I played together, so at least we always had two players to start a group with (and I was a white mage [healer] which helped), and we did have other friends who had joined us after playing DAoC. A friend of ours complained though that if we weren't on, sometimes she would wait for hours to get a group (I can't remember which class she played). It may be different now (that was years ago), but I seem to remember that there wasn't much you could do solo or with a small group.

My DH tried FFIV (I didn't), but he said it was awful, and stopped playing after a short time.

As for Age of Conan, my DH and I played for a while, but we stopped around level 20. It was OK, but I don't think we'll play again. At the moment, I have been sucked back in to WoW, and my DH is trying out Rift. I think if I was going to give a game another try, I might go back and try Aion again.
