I was in a bar this evening and they've played a song I've never heard before - which I immediately kinda liked. Actually it got me in such a good mood that I went to the barkeeper to ask what the song was called.
He said it was... Aimee Allen - Good Times
Been listening to the song on Grooveshark all evening long and think I'll find some more songs of her. Nothing THAT special but kinda fun to listen to and get me into a groovy mood.
How about you? Do share your stories and links
Edit: Do like this one as well.. kinda reggae... funny as I'm playing Dragon Age and they talk of "the Maker" aaaaaaaaaaall of the time. Aimee Allen - Calling the Maker
Lucienna, thanks for the suggestion, I'll be listening to it later. (headphones are in other room) The following is a beautiful version of the Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy" which I love already, but his cover makes me go all warm and melty. I'm planning on buying an album of his soon.
Woohoo thank you for replying! I love music, sharing music, getting to know new music Really like that version of "Crazy" too. Beautiful guitar and voice, actually the voice gives me goose bumps, just listening to it on my laptop in bed.
For me, I've been listening to Aimee Allen quite a bit (and by now she has added me on facebook.. the miracles of the interwebs!), my current faves are "Girl with Issues" and "Silence is Violence". I think both are much better than the ones I posted. Silence is Violence (calm one)
Apart from that I listen to a whole lot of Muse right now. I've known them since a long time, but never heard THIS song before watching this Dragon Age... okay.. FENRIS fanvid: Undisclosed Desires
God I love it @_@ Bought a few of their albums, only had ripped versions until a few days ago, but now I'm completely legal and supportive. Ha.
Awesome Lucienna, I'm a total music nut myself, always glad to have someone to nerd out with! Rawk! \m/
Yeah, I love Muse as well. They and Foo Fighters are probably my favorite current bands. Muse fans oughta appreciate this one, I love his stage presence. Bummed that I missed on them when they came to our area recently. (tix too expensive anyhoo *mutters*)
Thanks for turning me onto Aimee Allen she has a lovely voice. Her voice kinda reminds me of this singer, which is a total ear-worm for me. Normally a tight vibrato sort of grates on me (oh, say like Cher) but she uses it to good effect. Love it love it!
On the subject of great vocalists, gonna throw one more in, for good measure. :-D Beatles fan (and cover-fiend) that I am, I love this cover of the Beatles classic, Across the Universe. She definitely captured the hypnotic, brain-sludginess of the original.
I love all different genres of music & I love this band a lot, due to having a serious amount of music I didn't delve completely into their album until it played through in my car and THIS song came on and yeah. Love.
Omg Muse live are so awesome, I really wish I could go see them someday! Anna Nalick has a beautiful voice - can't watch the original videos because they contain "content that is not available in my country" GAAAAAAAAAAAAH WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF but I youtubed a little
I really like Love Lost! Reminds me a little of Dredg I have a personal category for this sort of sound in my brain, it's called "far away". Hehe. It's something about the harmonies having this "longing" quality to them. Like wishing for something really far away
I'm currently completely in love with Army of Me. I love the lyrics, I love the baseline, I love the voice, I want to screeeeam this song, I totally feel it.
Do you guys know Grooveshark? It's a great little free internet radio site that lets you search for songs and make playlists. I couldn't find a good version of the song on YouTube, so here goes Grooveshark. Björk feat. Skunk Anansie - Army Of Me
Beware it's a pretty angry song

Will definitely check out that bjork song later, an angry song will make a change from 'it's all so quiet.. Sshhh.. Sshhh..' which is pretty much all the bjork I know (: muse live is a must, just incredible!!!!
@Lucienna Oooh, those dastardly lawyers and their licencing restrictions. *stomps around* Yeah, Muse is insanely awesome. I've often wondered if they had a "make it freaking epic" button on their soundboard.
I'm familiar with grooveshark but never played around with it, I mostly get my music from Rhapsody music. Not sure if it's just in the States, but it's a subscription music service where you pay so much a month and download/stream all you want. Of course, the dastardly lawyers have been at that as well, so no Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and a number of others, but it fills most of my music listening needs.
And as to enjoying Muse live, you're totally rubbing salt in my wounds frillysocks. I heard recently (too late) that Muse had come to my area. They're touring with U2, so I can't imagine how expensive the tix would be. Still, seeing them live is on my mental bucket-list, so hopefully I'll pony-up for them one of these days. *cue dream sequence*
@zombiestitches: oh man, I like A7X! haven't listened to them for what seems like an eternity, but I've seen them live several times. Syn Gates (lead guitar) has amazing skills, those songs that made it into Guitar Hero are insane on Expert The songs you posted are great. Gonna have to check my old playlists out once more.

Haha awh sorry ..did I mention it was dark outside and they had LASERS..? *cough* can't have salt without a little pepper
Oh and I would totally wait for their headline show, u2 are ridiculously expensive.
I guess y'all know this song... I've heard it before and it never really got stuck in my head, but this morning it played on the radio and beautifully matched my mood at that time. Can't stop listening to it right now.
A friend of mine was talking to me about this girl Kerli...i never heard about her before so my friend spammed my fb inbox with her videos and i'm loving it!
Downloaded Head Like a Kite, seriously catchy tuuuune and I can see the T&S similarities.
I love a loooot of music but I really love stripped down/bare minimum/acoustic the most. Today I'm 'diggin a song by Joshua Radin from his new album 'the rock and the tide'.
Frill & Lucienna, did you say lasers? :-0 *darts around like cat* Lovely song of course Frillysocks, sweet vocals. (easy on the eyes as well)
Going in a contrary direction to the above poster, here's something that always puts me in a good mood. I'm not positive that everyone will be able to watch it, the music video can only be found on MTV's website Normally I prefer watching live clips, but I love the high energy in the next two clips:
Here's a song that I've liked for a few years that hasn't exactly been under the radar but fits with the above song. Don't watch if the sight of blood...or cheesetastic lyrics to the point of nausea bother you.
Yay - I finally figured out how to watch those videos with a proxy. Have I mentioned that I hate living in Germany and facing all those restrictions.. I feel like in Soviet Russia sometimes, because in Soviet Russia, music listens to you..
Great stuff girls! Keep it coming!
I've just discovered Sevendust. My bf has been listening to it for a while, and they do have some awesome metal songs. Been listening to it all day long.
