@bodgie sparkle - I heard bad things come in ME3 if you're not faithful to your ME1 love interest in ME2, so you're smart for that one. My HDD died a while back, so I started ME2 with no original me1 game data -- my Shepard is a free woman so to speak. I hadn't picked a love interest yet - can't make up my mind LOL!
@ Soloranya - Kelly is your assistant on the main deck - always tells you that you have messages or someone wants to talk to you. Miranda in my game hates me for taking sides with Jack LOL.
Tali is so much less irritating in this one. My Kaiden died in ME1. Love interest was Liara (available for both genders because Asaris are monogendered). So I see Liara's picture on my desk. I have suspicions Liara is going to become a Justicar in ME3.
I'm on my second playthrough with my Adept from ME1 -- Earth born, sole survivor. Council saved in ME1.
First playthrough was Infiltrator -- Colonial, butcher of Torfan. Council died in ME1.
@Rayofsunshine - Kelly is the person on the bridge who tells you if you have any messages. She's probably labeled 'yeoman' in your game.
Just finished ME2 yesterday - Thought it was kinda funny/cute how you can call up your love interest to cuddle on the sofa/bed in your quarters LOL. They just kinda threw that in there for kicks I guess.
I gotta ask - are you ladies playing Shepard as male or female? Just curious...
I ended up romancing Jack since Tali got pissed at me when I picked Legion's side during their fight. lol. I'm on my 2nd playthrough, this time as a female, I'm gonna try and go for Thane, but I have a feeling I will end up with someone else, again.
I'll definitely going after Thane my second play thru...mainly because I think nicknames are cute, plus I cheated and saw the big Shepard/Thane romance scene on youtube.

I picked Garrus too - I was going to go with Thane, but I'll do that next play through. I thought the moments were awkward in a cute way. Mordin's advice was hilarious. I talked to Kelly after talking to Mordin, and she talks about wanting to 'hold' Garrus because he's all bruised and battered. If you end up agreeing with her, she tells you that you and him would make a cute couple LOL.
I'll make sure to have one save file with my being faithful to care over to three, though from everything I read the only bad thing is just related to relationships not anything else.
I am either going for Kelly or Garrus I think.... Then who knows for my other play throughs

You're doing the same thing I am. I never did play the first one so I'm going back and playing it then importing and playing ME2. I'm going to go for Thane the next time around although Jacob is very tempting.
BTW Kelly doesn't count as a real relationship apparently. She will not unlock the achievement ergo she will not harm your relationship if you carried it over from one.
I really want to make sure that I have a save file where I didn't date anyone so I can continue the relationship from 1 to 3 but I just want to mess around with it and try everyone lol
Okay, I romanced Liara in ME1. I wanted Kelly to feed my fish, so I lit up Kelly enough times, and she didn't unlock the achievement. And I don't want to mess up things with someone taking on the Shadow Broker. My Shepard is all business this time.
As I stated before Kelly does not count as a romance subplot. She's a play thing, all the signs of cheating on your person from 1 aren't there. You don't get the "sex" scene, the achievement, or the shame of turning your picture upside down. It's been confirmed by many sources (with bioware's imput) that Kelly just does not count nor will she have negative consequences on your relationship.
I do really miss Kadian from 1 but honestly I'll be playing this game at least three or four times so I can't help it I have to try them all. Garrus is who I am shooting for now and it's so funny. Just completely awkward and strange but slightly enduring. Next time Thane, probably after that I'll remain faithful because I do want a save file where I am faithful to import... The options for girl's kind of sucks in comparison to guys.

Interesting - thanks for the info! I know I got Thane calling me Siha, then once I picked Garrus he stopped talking to me altogether LOL. I didn't get a big confrontation or anything either - just curious what others ran into.
I initially started off romancing Jacob but then I saw a comparison pic of him and Kanye West and I was turned off completely. So then I started romancing Thane. I got the same message about someone else being in my thoughts so I broke it off with Jacob (he was pissed and made some snarky remarks). My Thane romance then continued but I didn't get to see the convo with Mordin. I did see a vid of it on YT and thought it was the funniest thing ever. On my 2nd playthru, I may suck up the Kanye West thing and continue a relationship with Jacob.
In ME1, I think I romanced Kaidin and subsequently killed him off. Smart me! So I have no romantic entanglements to worry about going into ME3 (I hope).
