I guess it could actually be some mysterious person that we've never met before like you're supposed to think he (or she I guess!) is. But that's just nowhere near as much fun!
I just romanced Thane.. it was heartbreaking when he cried.. aaaww!
:D And that's why I'm romancing Thane next play thru -- that and the Siha nickname. Aaawwww indeed!
At first I really liked Garrus because he's like a big clumsy teddy bear, but now after romancing Thane I think I like him more. There's just something about him that makes me wanna run up to him and give him a big neverending hug. lol.
The only thing that bothers me is it's like, aww he's going to die soon. *Sadface*
I hope they'll find a cure for him.. he better come back in ME3! Although I assume Bioware is going to pull the same trick they did with ME2, let a few characters come back to join you and the rest will either be dead or "too busy to save the galaxy".
All I am going to say is that they better have Garrus, Thane, Tali, and Joker in the next game!!! Or I will be complaining internet style!
I am pretty sure Joker will come back.. he's supposed to be the "best pilot in the galaxy" so for him not to come back he would either have to be dead or you won't have a ship in ME3.. and that would just be weird..
I agree - Joker is pretty much a given. The Normandy just wouldn't be the same without him. EDI on the other hand...I can live without.
I really hated EDI to start with - she was annoying! But after the bit where she has to tell Joker what to do to save the Normandy that kinda changed my mind a bit and she started to grow on me lol
I actually like EDI in that they gave EDI and Joker a lot of back and forth which meant you heard more from Joker than you did in ME1.
If it means Joker can stay ME2 Robot Chicken funny versus ME1 moody pilot, then EDI can stay. I guess the one thing about EDI that drove me crazy was her name. In my field, EDI = Electronic Data Interchange (pronounced E-D-I, not Eee-Dee like in the game), complete pain in the a$$ to program. Everytime I saw her, it reminded me of bad times at work LOL. Have no problem with Tricia Helfer being a BSG fan and all.

Yeah, EDI was ok when she took over the Normandy and didn't go into bad AI kill-all-humans mode. Before that, totally annoying. I see the EDI interfaces all around the ship and never use them - kinda of a waste. Now if EDI could only take care of my fish, then she would be worth her weight in gold (I could never get Kelly to do it).

As much as I hate EDI (I don't like that my ship gives me orders), it would be mean to Joker to take her away. After all, he does kinda "fall in love" with her towards the end as he calls her "she" or "EDI" instead of "it". His tone also changes towards the end when he talks about her.
It did seem like he was starting to warm up to her - but I didn't talk to Joker much at the end which is probably why I missed this. I'll have to check this out.

I'm playing as my ported female Shephard from ME1. I was with Kaiden in ME1, but I've been a bit of a flirt in ME2. I just had "dinner" with Kelly, so... I guess I'll see where that goes.

LOLOL I guess I didn't talk to her enough early on...oh well. I'll try again next play thru. I wasn't sure if she would either, but in the initial dialogue with her, if you choose that you would catch and embrace her I think it opens up that relationship option.
I think maybe cos you said you were interested in Garrus, that might close the relationship option with her? Cos when she asked me if I liked Garrus, I said something along the lines of no, but you're hot lol

Additionally, after helping Garrus with his side mission he made the comment about how he used to relieve tension on the Turian ship with his female shipmate and I flirted back with him that I could help him relieve tension too lol -- I told u my chick is a flirt! I think flirt is a much better way of putting it - I've heard others refer to their Shephard as the Normandy's 'hoe-bag' LOL!! And totally agree with getting in the random flirts - I love that about ME2 -- makes me want to download a copy of XNA Developers software from Microsoft and make a flirting game. LOL
