Yay for bumping old threads!
I passionately LOVE video game music. Did you guys ever go to one of the GDC concerts? I think my personal highlight was the "video games live" performance for the GDC 2008 in San Francisco... my first time in the US, plus my first time on such a big game conference. Oh, and then meeting Nobuo Uematsu in person and talking to him and getting his autograph... aaahhhh... very special moment for me, his music always accompanied me during my awkward and awful teenager time.
Game music is what I love playing most on my piano as well. Here's my top ten, in chronological order of song appearance in my life:
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Doom Castle
Final Fantasy 6 - The Decisive Battle
Chrono Cross - Scars of Time
Silent Hill 3 - I Want Love
Shadow of the Colossus - The Opened Way
Castlevania - Iron Blue Intention
Civilization IV - Baba Yetu
Halo - Halo Suite (by Videogames Live)
Mass Effect - Faunts
NIER - Gestalt Battle Theme
And I love this guy.
Final Fantasy - Battle Medley by Piano Squall (seriously, if you don't know him, check him out. He's a great piano player, and he also distributes free piano sheets for me to snag and copy (haha), AND performs for a good cause)
