Getting Kyary’d Away

valtallica | February 28 2016

I've been indulging my anime and manga obsessions lately and to say the least it has been...hindering my studies. So I started to explore ways I could do both at once. My grand idea was to listen to some Jpop so I could still feel like I was watching anime while getting some work done. This is when I discovered Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

After watching one video I was hooked. Now if you've ever seen any of her videos you know they can be a bit eccentric, but she reminds me of a cutesy version of Lady Gaga and I am down with that! Her voice also brings back memories of animes I loved like Himouto! Umaru-chan, Chobits, or Nana. I ended up buying her new album Pika Pika Fantajin. By the way, this whole adventure took me a good two hours which kind of defeated my purpose, but I grabbed some snacks, settled in, popped in my headphones and stayed focused until the whole album was through! My purchase actually ended up being more useful than I originally planned too.

What suprised me was that the music not only satisfied my anime craving while studying, but it was handy for pumping me up during my workouts, in between classes, and at work! Her songs are high energy and have a positive vibe. I will definitley continue this trend of listening to Jpop whe studying and am in need of suggestions so if you have any favorite artists let me know and I'll check them out!
