Next Monday, September 28th, Anya Singleton will be performing at the Bitter End in NYC. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Anya's style encompasses blues, jazz and pop and the result is a sound that commands your attention. I will admit, I haven't been a real fan of female singers in the past couple of decades. None of them seem to have had the passion to make me want to listen. The past year or so, however, this previous lack of strong female voices is being made up for with groups like Flyleaf, Lacuna Coil, Paramore, and now Anya. While she's in a very different genre than the others listed, she still has a very powerful prescence through her voice as do the other women.
Anya's music has been featured on shows such as MTV's "The Real World" and The Style Network's "How Do I Look?".
Why should you go? Not only to hear her amazing voice but to support breast cancer research. And well... We went to school together, in the UK. I remember the days fondly when our Language Arts teacher would scold me for.... Wait... No... Nevermind
If you're in the area on Monday and want to go listen to some good music, stop by The Bitter End.
