I try to go and see as many movies as I can during screenings. I absolutely love them. It's worth standing in line for an hour to see the movie. Other than the fact that it's free, you can also get official movie goodies when you're walking out. It's also quiet, eerily quiet. There are no cell phones going off, people with crying babies are asked to step outside, you don't have that couple who decides to have an argument during the middle of the movie. The movie theater transforms into a total movie watching experience.
This past Thursday I had a chance to watch Matt Damon's new flick, The Informant! Generally I'm more of a sci-fi/horror kind of girl. But hey, it's Matt Damon; I can't resist that boyish face of his. And while the screenplay is based on actual events, this version just made them a little more fun to watch.
Matt Damon plays Mark Whitacre, a higher-up working for the company ADM. The company partakes in price fixing with other companies all over the world for preservatives that go into almost all foods. Whitacre decides that he doesn't like what the company is doing, gets backed into a corner to help the FBI, and soon decides that he wants to be their undercover informant.
The movie goes along as all movies do, with events slowly revealing themselves a little more as time goes by. This movie just tends to keep revealing things that are completely off the wall. It's hard to imagine someone making the kind of choices that Whitacre does. Sometimes it seems downright preposterous. Towards the end of the movie, it is eventually explained that Mark Whitacre was bipolar and experienced very high manic episodes when he started to "plan" some of his workings.
Melanie Lynskey plays Ginger Whitacre and I really would have liked to have seen more of her in the movie. She was the supporting wife throughout all of shenanigans that were going on for Mark. Overall, the movie had a solid cast of supporting actors. Countless times you couldn't help but laugh at the faces Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) was making.
While it's not a very action driven movie, it's still nice to watch and enjoy. At moments it can seem to drag on as the story unfolds, but it does unfold at a steady pace. For me, I absolutely loved the voice over of random facts and tidbits that Matt Damon's character spouts. While it wasn't the absolute best movie to see, it was still pretty decent and had a nice pace to it.

Entertaining, but I definitely agree that it seems to drag at times. I checked the clock more than once during this movie, and that's usually not a good thing for me.
