I can hardly believe we're already on to season 4 of "Dexter" but on Sunday night, I eagerly awaited Mr. Morgan's arrival on my television. How could they possibly keep me entertained for another season?
For those who are completely unfamiliar with the series, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a member of the Miami Police Department. He is a blood spatter expert with a side hobby - he hunts down and kills those whom he believes have committed atrocities so heinous that they deserve to be put down. No, this is not a spoiler, it's the main premise for the entire show. Another twist is that he works with his sister who is oblivious to his extra-curricular activities and was recently promoted to detective. If you haven't watched the previous seasons, I suggest you do. It will help you understand the dynamics between the characters and why I said, "WTF MATE?!" several times during the premiere episode.
Poor Dexter is now running on empty. His new son keeps him up all night and it's messing up his work - it's obvious from the start that it won't just be the police work that falters. He is also on-call with his wife 24/7 and however inconvenient her timing may be with requests, the devoted father drops everyone - I mean everything to get her what she or his son needs.
We are introduced to a new adversary right off the bat - The Trinity Killer. The opening scene was incredibly unsettling as we witnessed his killing style. Calm and unaffected - he made for a very unnerving killer.
As before, this new season looks to be one that makes you laugh at inappropriate times, cringe at the horror of situations and somehow root for a serial killer. I can't wait to see where we're taken on this bloody, new ride.
